Due to multiplication and diversification of messianic groups, followers of the movement, churches that adopt jewish symbols and similar movements in national territory and in Latin America, the Teaching from Zion Ministry feels the obligation of defining its ministerial dimension before the general community, so that there are not doubts about us. 1) WE ARE NOT judaizers. To judaize is to IMPOSE jewish practices to non jews. We are aware of the Messiah first apostles' orientations and of the decisions already made in the I Council of Jerusalem (as described in Acts 15). It can’t be imposed an unnecessary yoke to non jews that were saved by the grace of Yeshua (Jesus). 2) WE ARE NOT proselytizing. We are constantly misunderstood by jewish siblings, as if we were a missionary organization. Therefore, we are sometimes accused of proselytism. Proselytism is to persuade somebody to change or to adhere to a religion. We understand that a jew can recognize Yeshua as the Messiah and to continue living as jew. We also make clear that we don't have institutional bonds with any christian or evangelical denomination. We neither belong to the movement denominated "Jews for Jesus" (Judeus para Jesus). 3) WE ARE NOT followers of the Ephraim’s or “the two houses” theology. The doctrine of Ephraim or the theology of the "two houses" is a theological myth saying that the supposed 10 lost tribes of Israel are gentiles that have faith in Yeshua (Jesus) as the Messiah. We don’t agree with this approach, because it is clear in the Scriptures that G-D has a vocation also for the gentile nations, independent of any sanguine bonds with the people of Israel. 4) WE ARE NOT exclusionists. We try hard to create a dialogue between the church and the jewish community in general. We are open to the dialogue, and we love both groups intensely. We were not better than other ethnic groups, religious people or denominations. Either we think we own some truth. G-d is not limited to any institution or ministry. 5) WE ARE NOT ethnocentric or preconceivers. We don't put the jew in superior position in relation to the gentile, what would be of an imprudence and arrogance without measures. It was never or it will be intention of our ministry to do any racial or ethnic distinction, against any group. After all, G-d doesn't make people's meaning and it is not of His nature to give prestige to some to the detriment of others. 6) WE ARE NOT dogmatic. Some people are inconvenienced because we don't have a "manual of doctrines", an explicity elaborated creed. We understand that our "manual of doctrines" are the Scriptures and that the Bible should be interpreted freely, respecting hermeneutic discernment for that. 7) WE ARE NOT intellectual of the faith. We seek in the Scriptures spiritual principles that can deeply change our behavior in this world. We have the believer's personal testimony in high esteem. We are not worried about what people know about the Scriptures, but the way they live. The Bible is a principle for life and it always confronts our ethical behavior. The focus is in the practical life, in living the word day by day, and not in endless theological cogitations. |
